Kartepe is a large district that rises from the flat land by the lake through forested mountain slopes to the summit area where the ski runs are. Neighbourhoods popular with holidaymakers, such as Maşukiye, Suadiye and Derbent, belong to this district. In winter the Kartepe ski centre is visited for skiing, snowboarding and snow fun.
