Maşukiye is a neighborhood of Kartepe district in Kocaeli, at the foot of the Samanlı Mountains and right next to Lake Sapanca. It is known for the trout restaurants lined up along its stream, its waterfall and village breakfasts under the plane trees.
The ski center at the top of Kartepe is popular for skiing and snowboarding in winter. In other seasons the highlights are forest walks, ATV tours, horse riding and fresh highland air.
The area offers bungalows with private or heated pools, hot tubs or fireplaces, as well as rental villas, tiny houses and hotels. Lake Sapanca is close by, so both can be visited on a single weekend trip.
